Timon of Anaconda

For anyone who missed the live broadcast on Earth Day, a virtual performance of our collaborator Gretchen Minton's ecodramaturgical piece Timon of Anaconda can now be viewed on Youtube.

Presented by Bozeman Arts Live, this recording reunites the original cast for a socially distanced performance now available to audiences across the planet. Gretchen Minton's adaptation of Timon of Athens sets the play in Butte, Montana, using Shakespeare's original language to examine the ecological and social repercussions of the town's mining industry through Shakespeare's original language. The downfall of Timon, here imagined as a mining mogul, provides a nuanced portrayal of the guilt and complicity of individual people in the environmental damage wrought by capitalist extraction.
